I had a great experience getting my haircut at Oakland Barber Academy. The students were professional, attentive, and took their time to make sure everything looked just right. You can tell they’re being trained well and really care about doing a good job. The atmosphere was clean and welcoming, and it’s a great place to support future barbers as they hone their craft. The only thing I felt could’ve been handled differently was the owner asking if I wanted to leave a tip. I believe tipping should come up at the discretion of the client, not suggested by staff. It just puts a little unnecessary pressure on the moment. That aside, I’d definitely recommend this school for an affordable, quality haircut and to support the next generation of barbers.

Great place for affordable haircuts they listen and understood what I needed and want for your kids and for my husband. It's awesome for affordable male self care. The staff and instructors are wonderful and they give extraordinary service. 10/10 will always recommend. 👌🏾

Had to hop on here and give it up for this spot. Good and friendly people with talent. Took my son to get fresh for back to school and they took care of us. Highly recommended.

Big shout out to Chris (owner of the academy and my barber) for having the vision and courage to open up this academy in East Oakland. I've been with him since the academy was a dream and now it's here and he's doing a great job of preparing the new wave of licensed barbers. I even witnessed him in "instructor mode" during a recent visit. Needless to say, the students who decide to join the academy will be learning all they need to become a successful barber.
