I’ve been coming here for years and Nick always delivers. Incredible cuts every time, super consistent, and you can tell he's really passionate about his work. The shop is very queer-friendly and has such a calm, zen vibe - it’s honestly one of the most relaxing parts of my routine. Highly recommend if you want great hair and a genuinely welcoming space

Nick has been cutting my hair since I moved to Oakland 12 years ago. Nick is a consummate professional as are all of the other barbers. Nick and crew did a wonderful job decorating Hairpin and Strop. Cannot say enough good things - highly recommend!

I truly could not write a more raving review for Phoenix. This was my first time coloring my hair (38 years young!), and Phoenix had so much patience in answering all of my questions during my consultation. She walked me through the process, including telling me why she thought certain bleaches or styles would work better for me and showing me examples. During the bleaching process, she was the ever-caring professional and hypewoman at the same time! She's real fun to chat with, which is a bonus! She gave me great tips and tricks for hair care (types of shampoo, conditioner, hair repair, hair mask, etc), which we both agreed is our number one priority. I made an appointment here after my housemate got her hair cut and reported back with a positive review and a fresh cut and I'm so glad I did! Phoenix checked in with me throughout the whole process, asking me questions to get my hair looking exactly as I wanted and I couldn't be happier with my hair and the service.
