Family Trimz

As a white dad raising a mixed kid, I was looking for a Black-owned and operated barber shop to give him a good haircut. They were great with him. He looks amazing. And he didn’t freak out about it. Prices are reasonable, too.

A truly excellent old-school barber shop, highly recommend. I have visited several times this past year and it is always a great experience — the barbers are technically skilled and great to chat with. This is a small family run shop, so be mindful of the somewhat “limited” hours — they don’t say open crazy late, I’ve made the mistake of waiting until the last minute, and had to suffer through a terrible cut at an inexperienced shop, but absolutely with planning ahead (and after you visit they’ll give you the number so you can make an appointment or just call ahead.) All around great spot, I hope to enjoy their services for many more years to come!

Review of Family Trimz Barber Shop - Oakland, California Yesterday, on August 25th, 2024, I took my son to Family Trimz Barber Shop located in Oakland, California, between Bancroft and MacArthur. Upon arrival, my son asked the light-skinned barber with light eyes how much a line and trim would cost. He stuttered and quoted $30, then informed my son that they only accepted cash. After a quick trip to get cash, we returned to the shop within ten minutes, only to be disappointed by the service that followed. The barber rushed through the haircut, and my son was in the chair for just over ten minutes. When he got back to the car, he was visibly upset. Honestly they did me dirty. Why do this to someone lol. Waited a long time, people coming in and coming in, felt like I was getting skipped a lot. The real problem: my barber. Finally we get to me and he just starts off rip without asking for details, cuts off hair I wanted to keep, scribbles on my beard, used a shoe brush or something lol rough that thing HURT. My beard is uneven and they ruined my mustache. This is appalling, it's so bad it's almost a joke. I don't write a lot of reviews but this is just messed up. I can't believe I tipped.

Reo really came through for me. Despite my rushed entrance, he managed to fit me into his schedule and promptly ushered me to the chair. In no time, he had me looking sharp and feeling confident. Not only did he nail the cut I wanted, but he also seamlessly booked my next appointment, ensuring I stay on top of my grooming game. Reo's efficiency and attention to detail left me impressed, and I left his salon knowing I'd found my go-to stylist.
