It's difficult to find time to write, even a more difficult still when distractions are commonplace such as being at a mall on the holidays. So to find a moment to unhurry oneself, to me, is a profoundly generous time for myself and made a moment if enjoyed simultaneously with others. Joshua humbly introduced my husband and I to Adam, who embodied a trait of Aesop, the quality of the ingredients transmuted to an attention to detail evidence by us leaving the store with a product we’re privileged to try (B the triple C gel, a bar of soap, a bag of tea and incense sticks). The safety net of exploration Adam provided is a luxury that cannot be quantified in dollars. This experience makes me more likely to visit Aesop stores, positively curating my expectations if this template of interactio
I have been shopping here for the past two years, and recently I have experienced a severe, worrying decline in store quality and service in the past few weeks. On 31 March, after visiting the San Jose store to refill on a product, I realized they have supplied me with the incorrect product during the pick-up. I thought to go to Aesop in Palo Alto that same day—yes, Easter Sunday—because the location was listed as open. Got to the location to a locked door and lights off. They were closed. A single product mishap and neglect to list correct hours on Google landed me to wasted gas. For a brand to be sustainability focused, this is disappointment for many reasons outside of this. In the past six months, this has happened twice. The first occurrence was because they were short staffed; I had
One of the people working here has no mind for service. At other Aesop locations you are offered samples. They asked me if I wanted a bag for it, and I responded saying it's a gift. They sassily said that there's no separate bag for a gift. Just bag the damn item, I'm gifting it. They didn't even bother to spray the bag with a sample fragrance. Terrible location, go to Pac Heights or the one in Valley Fair
I am always overcome by a sense of peace when I walk into Aesop. This new store is open, airy and neutral in tone. Very relaxing. The scent is always very mild and never overpowering for a store that deals with many scented products and aesthetic is always clean and friendly. It is often difficult not to spend too much at Aesop, but if I have a goal, I do ok! The Stanford store staff are really lovely - friendly, helpful and respectful of personal space. I will be returning to this store, even though there are others closer to home. Accessibility: This store is accessible to those with walking aids and wheelchairs. It is uncluttered and single storey. As mentioned, mild, natural scents are present.
Disappointing and Uncomfortable Experience I walked into Aesop Palo Alto excited to do some last-minute Christmas shopping, but I walked out feeling dismissed and discriminated against. The store wasn’t busy—just me and a white couple ahead of me. They were treated warmly, asked thoughtful questions about their skincare needs, and given generous deluxe-sized samples. When it was my turn, I wasn’t greeted, wasn’t asked a single question, and felt rushed out without so much as a sample—or even basic courtesy. The difference in treatment was hard to ignore and left me feeling unwelcome. This happened on December 23 around 5 PM. The employee, an Asian male, was attentive and friendly to the couple but noticeably cold and dismissive toward me, an Asian female. I don’t care about the samples,
