The Shop at Union Market [salon]

Best cut, color, and blowout of my life. As soon as I walked in I was greeted into the warm, spacious shop. They also brewed me fresh tea and brought it to my chair. My hair looks fantastic. Eduardo was sooo precise (service took a little longer than usual but I would rather have this and it look good than feel rushed). Overall, great experience and relatively affordable for DC as well.

I went in over the weekend for partial foils, asked for dark blonde, honey, warm (see reference photo) and was VERY EXPLICIT that I did NOT want cool, white blonde. Not only did I walk out with very cold, white blonde that had zero dimension and made me look so washed out I looked sick, I also had water sprayed down the back of my top during the wash, soaking through two layers, and a knot ripped from my hair when it was being blow dried. I sent photos to the salon to ask for it to be fixed and was told it just needed a different toner... If you know blonde and you look at my hair, there's is SO much more that was needed to fix it than just a toner. If you're blonde please for the love of God stay away from this place. I love The Shop! It is always clean, the staff is friendly, and it is just a wonderful salon. I've been to a few stylists and have never had a bad experience there! I saw Dominic for the first time a few weeks ago and it was truly one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had! My hair was in desperate need of a trim, but since I’ve been trying to grow it out, I kept putting off an appointment for about nine months. I’m so glad I finally went to Dominic - he’s incredibly talented! After the cut, my hair has more shine and volume and somehow even looks longer than ever. It’s super easy to style (I’m a low-maintenance hair girl) and looks so healthy. I’ve honestly never been happier with a haircut. I've already schedule my next appointment for 2026- 100% recommend!

Unfortunately, I was genuinely shocked by the lack of professionalism at The Shop Salon. My initial haircut appointment was scheduled for Saturday at 1:15 p.m., but my stylist was still with another client until around 2:00 p.m. When he finally acknowledged me after 45 minutes, they were visibly frazzled and upset. He mentioned he hadn’t had lunch and were concerned he wouldn’t have enough time to cut my hair. I explained my vision - enhancing my natural texture - and he expressed excitement about the idea. We agreed I would gather a few reference photos, and we rescheduled for Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. When I arrived Wednesday evening, I shared the photos that I collected. Karelis is an amazing professional! She takes care of you from head to toe color, cut, and everything exactly the way you like it.
