The Hair Lounge

I've never felt the need to write a review of poor service ever until today. I decided I wanted to give myself a birthday treat and dye my hair for the first time ever and went in for a consultation to get more info and show what I wanted to get out of dying my hair (photos attached). I showed the same 2 pictures to the stylist Shannon and she assured me the brown hues on my black hair would take 1 visit and done! I was excited and set up an appointment. Day of the appointment the color came out red tinted but I was assured it would lighten up. It barely lightened up and truthfully matches my own hair color. I called and was told by the receptionist that they would fix the color for free and I would only have to pay for a blowout. I go in today and the hair stylist is giving me attitude

My 2nd time at Hair Lounge. They saw me on time. I thought I was going to get the Cezzane Hair treatment but they did not have the treatment in stock and used The Amika Pro Smooth Over treatment. I was at bit skeptical because I never heard of it. The owner took time out and explain the choice of treatment and made me feel comfortable . Ramona did my treatment. I was very please at her work. She was also sensitive on my concerns with the blow dryer heat and flat iron. She was also very easy to talk to . She made the process (3 hours) non stressful. I plan to return. Place is clean and well managed.

What an awful experience. I called to inquire about the price of a blowout and the receptionist informed me it was $35 and after getting my phone number to complete the booking lets me know that there’s notes in my account stating that my appointments take 45 minutes - 1 hour so she would be adding on an extra eight dollars. I asked why as I just have shoulder length curly hair and she said “$35 blowout are for people with normal hair. If you have curly hair, we charge an extra $8”. Implying curly hair isn’t normal?? Are you joking. for reference, I’m not a professional hair stylist and it takes me 45 minutes to blow dry my own hair. I was in the area and was really eager for a blow out so I booked it for 5pm. My friend is deaf and nervous when it comes to haircuts (she has to take her hearing aids out). I brought her to The Hair Lounge as I myself had been there before for great blowouts. On top of giving her a great haircut, Ramona was warm, patient and put my friend at ease. Bravo on both counts! 🤟🏽

It’s not a 1 start. It’s a zero! On Friday, December 14th, I had an appointment with Amanda for a simple trim without a blow dry. I showed her a photo and clearly explained that I didn’t want too many layers. Despite this, she decided to cut my hair dry and began adding more layers with thinning scissors. At one point, she even remarked that it “feels worse than it is.” She kept turning me away from the mirror, preventing me from seeing what she was doing. It became clear she had messed up when she started curling my unwashed hair with a flat iron—without any heat protectant. She mentioned she wouldn’t charge me for it (something I hadn’t even asked for), but the damage was done. The result was horrifying—my hair was sticking up at the top and looked like a helmet.
