Somatherapy Institute School of Massage

Aug 15, 2019 I completed the massage therapy program at Somatherapy Institute School of Massage in Rancho Mirage. I am a retired California Chiropractor. Somatherapy was like an academic and massage technique oriented breath of fresh air! I give the entire administrative team and all of the class instructors 5 stars for being so wonderful. Somatherapy is by far the best massage school in the valley. They have the lowest price point & the best class instructors. Their academic schedule is very flexible and easy to fit into. I am so glad that the "Google search Gods" gave me Somatherapy Institute as a first choice. Margaret...you were right. The massage program is a fantastic trip to take. I thoroughly enjoyed my first massage at Somatherapy last week. It was my first experience getting a massage at a school. Thank you, Aurora ( instructor and massage therapist extraordinaire ), for turning me on to this wonderful establishment! Upon entering, there’s a large room to the right with many massage tables where instruction takes place. For my massage, I was ushered to another room by my therapist Alexandra , where clients are separated by fabric ( imagine an ER ). It was very quiet, dim, calm and the requisite spa music played in the background. She thoughtfully brought a chair for me to place my clothes on. Do be aware that as a school, Somatherapy doesn’t offer lockers to change into, so dress for ease, with slip-on shoes. There’s signage requesting conversation be focused on

I like getting a good massage. I love getting a great massage. Receiving a student massage can definitely be a hit or miss event but in the many years I’ve been coming to Somatherapy I can honestly count on one hand the number of disappointing massages I’ve had. Overall, I’ve had a lot of good massages and enough great massages to keep me coming back. The proof really is - I keep coming back. The location is central, the facilities are clean and the current staff are great.

I was initially hesitant to get a massage from a student because of past and recent injuries. But my hesitation quickly disappeared when the student and I talked about what type of massage may help me. Having it approved by the instructor confirmed that I was in good hands. Soma's massage clinic has high standards and the same professionalism that I've received from Spa establishments.
