As someone who fully admits to having an expensive hobby (yes, I’m a proud spa snob), I can confidently say the new spa at the Salamander exceeded all my expectations and then some. From the moment I booked, the experience was seamless. I scheduled 60-minute wellness massages for myself and my best friend, and wow… Francesca was phenomenal. Her warmth, kindness, and attention to detail made the massage feel like a full-body reset for my nervous system. It wasn’t just a massage, it was an experience. Between the back scrub, the intentional care, and her calming energy, I truly felt seen and cared for. She checked in on pressure and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. I walked in stressed and left floating. The spa itself is stunning. The new facility is gorgeous, clean, calming,
I had a wonderful experience at the Salamander Spa in DC, and I cannot say enough good things about Tonia. I visited during the week as part of a gift from my boss, and from start to finish the experience was exceptional. Tonia gave me one of the best facials I have ever had. She was knowledgeable, attentive, and truly intentional about every step of the service. The facial was both relaxing and results-driven, and I left feeling refreshed, glowing, and genuinely cared for. The spa itself is absolutely luxurious. The facilities are beautifully designed, serene, and impeccably maintained. Every detail felt thoughtful and elevated, making it easy to fully unwind. To top it off, the dining experience was excellent. The tagliatelle with chicken, lemon, and capers, paired with the roasted to
I came here for a staycation with my husband and the Salamander Spa was the best part of my stay. Arlene, my massage specialist, was absolutely phenomenal. She made sure I had everything I wanted AND needed. From the aroma therapy to the pressure, she showed great attention and professionalism in every aspect. I have to say, this is the best massage I've ever experienced. I even received complimentary champagne and an amenity for our anniversary! I did not get a chance to try the additional amenities (sauna, steam room, hot tub) but will definitely be back on a consistent basis to be treated by Arlene and experience the amenities.
I was in DC for one day, traveling with my husband who was there on business. So I decided to get a massage. Last minute decision. I actually wanted a facial, but no appointments available. Massage was the best! I did not try any add-ons (except the aromatherapy, which was $20 extra). Jayden was awesome! She adjusted the pressure when I asked, and she was so pleasant. And she gave an excellent massage. I do not get down to DC often, but looks like my next girls’ trip might be at this hotel and spa! Ask for Jayden!
It was not worth the cost of the services. The Spa is under renovation so services are being performed in a suite. There is no use of any other spa amenities, which is a downgrade, however the price does not reflect such, and is not comparable to what is offered. Although I enjoyed the service itself, I felt robbed. I waited an hour past my appointment time because a therapist did not show up. I was unable to use a gift certificate which was sold under the premise of "no expectation date" because it was purchased while the company was Mandarin Oriental even I never received notice of the policy. The atmosphere simply did not measure up. The prices are still set for luxury services and I did not receive a luxury experience. I would not recommend patronizing the Spa at this time.
