Paint Bar

I've been to Paint Bar twice now. I would highly recommend this place and getting the hard gel. It's not cheap but I've NEVER had my nails last this long without one chipping or breaking. The blue nails were from my second visit and it made me happy to see how long my nails had grown since my last time! Julia is amazing! She is very detailed and takes her time to make sure my nails look the best they can be! Overall, this place is a hidden gem and you definitely try the hard gel here <3

One of the most frustrating nail experiences I’ve ever had. A friend recommended Paint Bar, and since I was going into an extremely busy month, I decided to try it out. I was willing to pay high dollar for a long-lasting, high-quality manicure. I got my first manicure on 9/13 Unfortunately, only 10 days after my appointment, my nails began to chip and lift at the sides. On top of that, my thumbs were completely different shapes and sizes. Paint Bar invited me back to fix the nails that weren’t holding up, but once they saw them in person, they ended up redoing all of them because the results were so poor after only 10 days. This is my second visit and I have to say I was extremely disappointed. Definitely not the quality I expected for $150 nails. They’re not bad…. But the nail on my thumb is slanted, and other nails had bubbling or the gel was not evenly distributed. I could tell my technician was new, she mentioned she had only started one month prior. The shape of my nails did not match, and after I mentioned it several times I could tell she was frustrated and I felt bad, however it was visibly different. It wasn’t until the end when she asked another nail tech for help. The second nail tech (I think it was Lena), filed one hand which was perfect and handed the other hand for my nail tech to finish based on what Lena had done. Beautiful quaint space & convenient location in Santa Monica - so glad they opened on this side of town! Definitely PRICEY but given the amount of time (about 2ish hours) and precision spent by my wonderful artist (Lena was so kind and talented!), I’m hoping my nails last a couple of weeks and the health of my nails will flourish with the method they practice here. Will be back soon! Update 4 weeks later - my first set of nails held up really well. I’m so pleased! Went back in this week and just adore how my nails turned out! I can't express how much I adore this salon. The staff is incredibly friendly, and I always leave feeling so good. Alisa is my go-to; I’ll admit my nails can be a bit of a mess at times, but she consistently makes them look gorgeous without ever mentioning their state. She’s a true Pro and to be honest you’re in good hands with any of those nail techs. Everyone is so talented.
