I'm using this site as a sounding board. I visited Newport News Time with my brothers obit, left it with Kathy to tweek if needed. I was quoted $140 to $200. Wrong date and misspelled last name corrected. I went back personally and was told $240.00. It didn't make the paper!! Back over spoke again to Kathy who responded saying she knew nothing of my brother that someone else must have messed up. I was not loud or rude but expressed my anger that it was left out and $240.00 the explanation was well things happen and she was sorry and I should be more understanding!!!!! WHAT. It made Fridays paper when the Celebration of life was the next day Saturday. Kathy said my brothers friends should already know of the service. Stopped to pay for the O.C. Waves magazine. Owner has quite a few of his pictures in the lobby area and they are jaw dropping. They are re working the lobby area as to have room to showcase local artists. Is well worth the time to stop in and check out what is there to see.

This publication has always been very supportive of its local art scene, for example: The Newport Center for The Visual Arts, at the Nye beach turnaround. Their coverage has helped to serve the community through announcements of educational programs and exhibits that have been brought to the community by the OCCA. Mimi Cernyar Fox, my spouse is exhibiting her work: Wings Over The Sea, for the month's of October and November 2016 at the Visual Arts Center in the Runyan Gallery on the main floor. They continue to cover the performing arts as well. All journalist have to start somewhere. Newport is a small fishing community / town.

They are greedy and evil they want you to pay for obituaries. That are only one week old. I could see if I was asking for one from last year or something. But I have been asking for an obituary from the March 26 paper since the first week in April and they wont even respond to my email.

I found it very conveniently located next door to the veterinary clinic where I went to get help for my cat. I have said that I have not been to the News Times but this keeps popping up. Sorry I am not able to help with this one.
