Loc Lov

I’m shy about visiting salons, but the warm and friendly staff here always treat me and my locs wonderfully. The hair washing is a spa like experience and the products smell heavenly. During the past few years, I’ve had my locs trimmed, repaired, retwisted and styled by Loc Lov. I’ve also had my locs colored here (back when they were located on H street). It’s nice having this salon as my go-to for all things loc related.

Loc Lov is the perfect name because that’s exactly what they give your locs, LOVE. After doing my research and scheduling my appointment, I just knew this salon was gonna be a fancy-stuffy salon where everybody thought they were better than everyone else, but to my great surprise it was the total opposite. All the fancier is in the service! As soon as I hit the top stair, I was greeted with smiles and positive energy floating throughout the salon. After reading the stylists bios, I chose Jameel because we seem to have the most in common. My scalp and locs haven’t been the same since he touched them. Gifted hands with a magical touch, not only does he love on my locs, but my locs love him! Each appointment is a spa day for your scalp, whatever stress you’re carrying with you will not follo

Unfortunately I had to give a 2 star. The massage and head washing amazing but the styling is mediocre and my style was thrown together. I asked for 2 strand twist with a style up top. From the the outside the bun looked nice but once I took it out to wear it down I couldn’t!!!! Yall they put locs together that were so far a part. Locs were intertwined with each other just a mess. I kindly reached out to see if could be addressed and fixed. I was informed the stylist would reach out but they never did. It’s disappointing because I genuinely reached out. Won’t be coming here again.

This is my first time having locs as well as being in a salon. I was nervous and uncertain about what to expect. I was eased almost immediately as I walked in and became more and more comfortable as everyone was nice including the clients who were just talking and enjoying themselves. The wash and steam condition treatment by Charles was very good and relaxing. When it got to the retwist Zee did her thing I can’t lie. I have a scalp condition and lost some hair near my crown and top of my head and my confidence went with them. Zee made me feel comfortable and it didn’t feel like I was being judged because of my hair. I came in homeless and left out ready for anything !

Everyone at this business is thoughtful, kind and gives great consideration to who you are as a person. They are prompt and courteous with their care and you don’t feel rushed as if you’re just another means to an end. I really enjoy coming here and will recommend this salon to anyone who cares about quality service and their hair health. I came in with a considerable amount of color damage and hair breakage. I worked with Rasha and had a great experience. She was very knowledgeable about my hair health and what measures I should take to manage the color damage. She reassured me that I will eventually be able to re-color it later on the future, given proper maintenance and an expert technique with the next color. I really appreciated her thoughtful consideration and the extra time she to
