I am very particular about my barber because it can be challenging to find one that can actually cut large beards well. So, if you have a large beard I highly recommend Geezy. So, about 3 or 4 months ago I had to find a new barber after mine went back to the lower 48 and someone from my gym recommended trying JD Styles. I decided to book an appointment with Geezy (the shop’s manager), told him the general idea of what I was trying to get done, and he knocked it out of the park. One thing I appreciated was him detailing how he was going to approach cutting my beard to achieve the desired shape and length. He communicated every step of the way, provided recommendations on what would look best before make adjustments, and used scissors to dial in the shape of my beard. I went back yesterday

Was able to book an appointment the same day and was assigned to Ethan. Clean cut, did exactly what I had requested. Nice friendly group of barbers making money and doing top quality business.

I went here and asked for a Mohawk which is what I have been getting for the past 5 years from other barbers. Everytime I get what I ask for. I just moved to fairbanks and heard great things about this place, so I go and ask for my Mohawk. The guy sits me down and I even show him a picture of my own haircut from past barbers and say I want to get this done. He starts cutting the back of my head and it doesn't feel quite right and his coworker says "you're giving him a Mohawk remember?" And he replies "I've never done a Mohawk before" at this point he buzzed the entire back of my head so its too late to even get up. I just sit there and endure the pain of deciding if I'm just going to shave it all off when I get home or not (which yes I ended up doing). And I ask for a mirror once its done

I’ve never written a Google review before, but this whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I was scheduled for a haircut appointment at J.D. Styles with Jordan. He peeks around the corner as he’s finishing up with another customer, and looks at me almost concerned. He asks what I wanted, then asks if I’ve picked out my hair recently. I said not really, no. He then says he it would extend the appointment time another 30 minutes (1 hour total) and that it wouldn’t work for him. Now I’m assuming he asked me this because of my hair type (I’m mixed), but this is kind of a surprise because I’ve been to other barbershops and they picked out my hair in 5 minutes max. My fiancé went in to get his haircut and asked for an inch off the top and they basically buzzed his whole head with an inch guard and chalked it up to a “misunderstanding” and still had him pay $70 for it. I called to complain and was told “well he said it was fine”. They pitted the blame onto him. What else is he supposed to do? You can’t put it back on? Not coming here again.
