Gwen's Hair Port East

I'm approaching 60 and, like most African American women, have an interesting hair journey. Today, I took another turn toward a professional who knew my first "hairdresser" from back in the day. I'd heard of GHE. The only explanation that I have for not meeting her sooner is that I was satisfied with my stylists at the time. My stylist once removed, was pleasant, had a clean shop, and decent prices but I later realized that she was underprocessing my hair. Today I did not get a t-up--I will next month--but Gwen gave my hair a thorough cleaning and trim. On a personal level, we connected over pescatarian diets, agreed JHud was a bit extra, and celebrated Billy Porter. I think my new 15min destination is gonna be a winner!

This is the worst trim I have ever received in my life. A trim comes with the relaxer service and Gwen ended up giving me uneven layers and a bad cut. I honestly feel that she is too seasoned in her craft to make an amateur mistake like this and it would have to be done intentionally out of malice. I have to wear wigs and weave now because my hair will no longer fit into a ponytail. She uses great products and she has punctuality, but playing with a women’s self esteem and image is a despicable practice.

Gewn was an amazing hairstylist and a fun person to be around! Yesterday I was calling around to see if anyone could do a short notice hair cut, and Gewn was able to book me on such short notice. She was able to perfectly execute the look I was going for from only a couple photos. I have curly hair and have always been hesitant to go to a stylist because of it, but she knew exactly how to work with my hair. I will be coming back for future styles and will be recommending her to everyone.

She's a great stylist. She's taken care of my wife's hair since a child and now she has my children as clients. And I used to go and get my split ends clipped when I had an Afro.

I have been avery satisfied customer for the pass 10 years or more. Gwen is a professional hairstylist and her salon is always clean and well kept.
