Grotto Spa-Solana Beach

Was expecting better since I had a great experience at the Carlsbad location. Very disappointed to say at the very least. The deep tissue massage was not deep tissue at all, just a bunch of body oil and light hands.

Booked a spur of the moment Reflexology massage and when asked for a time, was told to come on in now. So very glad I did. Wasn’t sure what to expect I get regular monthly massages for years. This massage was pretty much full body and was amazing. I felt rejuvenated and soreness in one ankle and knee (from previous injury) felt so good and soreness is gone. Highly recommend and I might even get another one before I head home this weekend. Thank you Grotto Spa.

⸻ Disappointing and Painful Experience – Not What It Used to Be I’ve visited this spa in the past and had nice experiences, but unfortunately, our visit in June 2025 was a major letdown. From the moment we walked in, things felt off. The front desk staff seemed disorganized and distracted — it was clear our appointment hadn’t been properly noted, and there was a lot of back-and-forth yelling in another language, which didn’t set a very welcoming tone. Once in the couples room, the experience went from disappointing to downright painful. This is the worst run business I have ever dealt with . Have come here for years and the last 2 times I visited they had no reference of my reservation (that I made an hour before ) . They don’t even realize it until you have entered and prepared for massage . Never again

I’ve heard wonderful things about Grotto Spa and was excited to try them out. I called at 10:15 on a Friday morning and Gordon offered a 10:30 spot. How convenient, I thought. I was shown a room and waited for my massage therapist. I called the front desk three times to ask what was going on and each time, I was told the therapist would be with me shortly. After almost 40 minutes of waiting, I am done waiting. This is the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced - they don’t have enough staff (there is nobody manning the front desk) yet Gordon will tell you to come on in. Don’t fall for it.
