El Teca Barbershop

The crew at El Teca is legit. Big Lake, MN is lucky to have a shop like this. It’s clean, courteous, comfortable, and cool. I book online (typically the day of), and they seem to always have some availability if you’re flexible about who cuts your hair. It’s an easy drive from Monticello, where I work, and I’ve never had a bad experience there. I typically just show the guys a picture of how I’d like my hair cut, and after a few clarifying questions, they get to work. I’ve gone with a skin fade a couple times in the summer, but they’re also really good at a classic taper. This shop is on par with anything you’ll find in a big city, and in most cases exceeds the quality of more expensive barbers. My husband always comes home with a perfect haircut from Oscar, so we decided to bring our 1.5 year old in to meet him too! We weren’t sure exactly what we wanted other than for our son to look cleaned up and we were soo pleased with the results! Oscar was so good with our son, who didn’t mind getting his haircut one bit by him ☺️ He also took his time despite it being a busy day. We’ll keep coming back!

I booked a haircut and it turned out great - attention to detail, thorough, consistent. However, the barber started trimming my beard and mustache...which I did NOT want. I was about to tell him to stop but he had taken too much off and it was too late. I have been growing out my beard and mustache, I was finally passing the unruly stage. The mustache line above my lip isn't straight. SUPER unhappy with my experience (except the haircut itself). I won't be going back.

My son asked if he can always get his hair cut by Pedro. Best haircut my son's gotten and he thought the barber was like a friend so I'll be coming back.
