City Cuts BarberShop

I'm a retired barber. City Cuts is the 6th barber shop I've been to in the last 5 years or so. Most barbers I've found come across as cold, they rush, don't talk to you and are not consistent. I've been coming to City Cuts for about a year, so far Igor has been my barber and doing a decent job. He's friendly, polite a seems to appreciate my business. I asked him to go a bit shorter 2 months ago and did a great job. I returned last week, asked do you remember what you did last time " yes, yes I remember" no, he didn't remember...way to short on the sides. I'll have to let it grow back. I'll give him another chance but, if he screws up, onto the next guy. They are all the same, when I was in business I always asked the client if I wasn't 100% sure.

Igor and John are the two barbers here currently and both have a well deserved huge loyal following. Luckily not too huge as I still just walk in when I find 45 -60 minutes in my busy life to see Igor and usually get right in his chair. I am in my 50's and I've lived in a lot of places. Had a lot of barbers though mostly hair stylists for my very curly hair which needs an experienced cutter. Not just saying this cause I like him as a friend, Igor really is the best hair cutter or stylist I ever had. He has been doing it for some 25 years and used to have a shop on Lexington, Upper East side where he still has customers coming up from to see him. I have been using him exclusively for three years. John is also spoken of as the best in what he does which are more fades and buzz cuts. I

If you’re on the fence - Give porch (joe) a shot. You won’t be disappointed. Patient, hard worker, who has been cutting hair for many many years. Approachable and steady client stream should tell you he is a high end barber at a reasonable price. Call ahead* he is honest and will get you in without waiting too long if at all.

1. Customer service is non-existent. 2. Rude and disrespectful owner. Uses profanity when children are in the barbershop. 3. Unreliable. Barbers do not have or/and do not keep appointments. Barber left the shop few minutes after getting off the phone with the customer who he just told he will be in for at least another hour and told the customer to come! 4. Barbers do not ask and do not pay attention to customer’s requests. 5. “Distracted” quality of work. They talk and stop work, chat it up leaving the customer waiting in the chair. 6. Great potential. Very poor execution.

I moved to new rochelle a year ago and I was still commuting to brooklyn for my haircuts. Why you ask? I could not find a barbershop in the area that really felt homie and most of all, that left me completely satisfied upon leaving. Not taking away gratitude from those barbershops, but like many men a haircut is sacred and personal. Anyway, this location was recommended to me. And I haven't had to go back to Brooklyn ever since. I could take a short drive now here and get exactly what I asked for. My go to guy is Joe. He is great. You won't regret sitting in his chair. Loves what he does and it shows and translates on your outcome. Furthermore, he constantly tries to better his technique and craft. Super respect. Love this spot.
