I really enjoyed my experience here! Booking was a little annoying and it’s definitely easier to call. I got a refresh cut with Collin and it was fantastic. He completely understood what my hair needed and added layers and framing to create the movement that I was looking for. Collin was very friendly and talented, I would highly recommend! I never had concerns about how my haircut would turn out and I felt rather reassured on how he took time to analyze what I was looking for and what my hair needed, and checked with the instructor before preceding. The instructors were very fun and welcoming as well. The students are talented and dedicated, they value your time and being able to practice. It’s also a really great value!
I want to say, yes this is an institute and they are still learning, but at the same time they are all about to graduate so at this point there should be more proficiency. I will start with the good... My daughters both got haircuts, one from Frankie and the other from Meg. They were both happy with their cuts. I also had an appointment for a partial highlight and a cut. I had Laura, and bless her heart she's super sweet, but I think with a little more practice she'll be good. The reason for the 3 star review is that we started at 1:30 and by 5:30 she still hadn't put on the toner or cut my hair. The one thing I mentioned was that I didn't want my highlights yellow, I wanted them more platinum to blend in with my gray. I left with yellow highlights. This was because there was no toner ever
First, I just want to say how happy I am that this salon exists in Seattle! As a Black woman who recently moved here, it can be hard to find a hairstylist who truly cares about your experience and offers Affordable services. I’ve had the pleasure of getting my hair done by Dreama 3 times now, and she never disappoints! After dealing with a lot of hair trauma from past experiences, Dreama has always been patient, kind, and attentive to both me and my hair goals. She recommends great products for aftercare, and is detailed about the process while you are there. During my last visit, I got my hair washed, colored, and trimmed, and Dreama, along with April (two AMAZING Black women may I add!). This made the entire process feel intentional and relaxing, and overall uplifting. I’m so grateful
Oof. This is a hard one to write b/c I really want to be supportive of the Institute in giving their students experiences providing live services. I've been going to this AVEDA Institute for haircuts/trims for several years and have not had an issue. Haircuts are $25 so, not too bad if you're not seeking a lot of layering and complex trim work. So, in the past, I'd normally rate them a 3-4 on haircuts which is fine for me. I'm not too fussy. My hair is straight, thick, coarse and long, and I'm pretty low maintenance when it comes to styling. But 1-2x a year I get some coloring added. So, I decided to give the students a try...and unfortunately, this was an UTTER fail. I should have read the reviews before I went but I also signed the waiver so, I knew this was a risk. I'll just have to be
Booked a body scrub and it took over 20 minutes just to get me in the back to get undressed to lay down on the table. They didn’t bother to read the form I filled out regarding my lavender allergy, which is shocking considering it’s a school. The student servicing my scrub didn’t bother to introduce herself, didn’t offer anything or anywhere to put my clothes & stuff in the small curtain space, and kept walking out for long periods without saying anything beforehand. It was almost half an hour before she got started. Then they noted my shoulder splotch, a tinea versicolor area that I’ve had since 2007 and is just a darker splotch on my shoulder- no sensitivity. The instructor taught her about it then let her continue. 10 minutes later, the instructor comes in and tells me they are not goin
