The first time I got my hair here I made a TikTok video, which is still very popular. People loved my box braids, I LOVED MY box braids. I was sending people to this location because I love the work that my Braider was doing. Anyway, I recently went back for like the 5th time since I came across this location. I DISLIKE my braids so much I told her I would never go back. I asked for mid-small braids and the girl kept telling me that they weren’t big. The parting is big and the braid is small making my head look like have 20 braids. She didn’t do it to make it look full

I had a terrible experience at Zena Braiding in Harlem. The staff was very unprofessional and rude. First, Zena hung up on me when I was trying to discuss fixing my hair, which was done poorly on June 18th. It’s been 17 days, and I’ve been very frustrated. Zena were not responsive to my texts when I called she insisted on calling me back instead of addressing my availability. The new ladies working there are also not professional. Their lack of skill and professionalism made the experience even worse. I do not recommend Zena Braiding in Harlem. Their unprofessionalism and rude customer service are not worth it. Find another salon.

The first time I went to Zena’s I love my hair. After my experience today, I would NEVER recommend them, if I could give this place ZERO STARS I would!!!! I arrived for my appointment at 9:00 and specifically asked for boho knotless braids. I sit in the chair and it’s a different woman doing my hair which I didn’t mind considering it’s a braiding shop, everyone should know how to do braids. I tell the woman what size and she starts with the back. She shows me the back of my head and I tell her that her parts are too large. Zena (the owner) told me that that’s what I asked for which I did not as it’s in our text messages from when I booked by appointment. Ignorant and bigoted. I wanted to get shoulder length box braids, I have my own hair that reaches my shoulders, but the sides and back are shorter than the crown so I would need extensions so it’s all even. I reached out to Zena via text, explained my situation, and everything seemed fine at first. I asked for a price, and she requested a picture of the style I wanted. When I sent an image of a man with box braids, she responded, “We don’t do extensions on men hair.” There was no issue with doing extensions until she found out my gender. I wasn’t hiding it, because I didn’t think it would matter. I’ve had extensions before without any problems at other establishments. Hair texture doesn’t change based on gender, so there’s no logical reason to refuse this service except outdated, bigoted

I just wanted to leave a review and tell everyone how amazing these ladies are!!! They have amazing prices and their work is amazing also!! Everyone was so kind and polite!! I was in & out really fast. I will be back soon!! 10/10 highly recommend!! Aunty have some nice people in her shop its also CLEAN & smells good!
