Zazen Nail Spa

Unfortunately, the staff was nice, but I had a really terrible manicure here. My nails were a medium length when I got there and are now so short that it’s uncomfortable (I asked for them filed and rounded, not even cut). There are jagged pieces of nail sticking up and a smudge of gel on my thumb. Would not recommend.

I visited Zazen Nail Salon yesterday for a gel manicure & pedicure. Zazen was recommended by a friend, and my husband and I just moved to West Chester so it was my first time here. I had a great experience while there. The staff was very friendly, and I really liked my technician. She gave me recommendations for good restaurants and other places in town, as well as tips for parking. Today, however, three of my nails started chipping. This is one day after my appointment. I was really surprised and disappointed that my $76 service did not last even 24 hours later. I called the salon first thing in the morning to explain my concern, and I kindly asked for a way to remedy the situation. I went to Zazen as a new customer and received multiple services on my first visit: lash lift and tint, gel mani, pedicure, eyebrow tint and wax. I now have first degree burns on both of my eyebrows from the wax, still visible days after leaving the salon. I was at Zazen for several hours, and received the wax first. It was very obvious that my brows were burnt after the waxing; the technician even commented on how bad my skin looked and said, “oh, I hope I didn’t burn you, we really try not to do that…” after sitting there for several hours with stinging, bright red skin all around my brows. You would think at that point, she would have been apologizing profusely and offering a refund for the service. Zazen HAS A HEAD SPA!! I've been visiting the salon on and off for pedicures for the last 4 years and have always had a great experience. I don't do gel for pedicure but they last me weeks! I've also had a few gel manicures and they were also really nice but as someone who typically only gets their nails done for special occasions I was SOOOOO excited to see they are now offering a Head Spa experience! I went earlier this week and it was lovely! The room is soothing, the bed was cozy, and everything was very sanitary. Every single product smelled better than the last. The head spa was delightful, I felt as though it was the right amount of cleansing while also being throughly relaxing. I’m here from out of town and will definitely never be returning. Arrived 10 minutes early to my 1:40 PM appointment on a Friday and waited a half hour to be seen. Another woman came in after me and was immediately sent back. When I said something to the receptionist she clearly forgot I was waiting but didn’t apologize. Chairs are very uncomfortable. Polish selection is lacking. My zen pedicure ($38) took less than 20 minutes when they finally saw me. The tech was very nice but starting clipping my nails super short all the way to the beds before even asking me if or how I wanted them clipped. I like them long and straight across, so this was really disappointing and they look very uneven to me. She also painted over some of the leftover polish from my previous pedicure without removing i
