Yates Barber Shop

I found this place last year, in my search for a decent barber at a decent price. I had been using a guy in a small barber shop on Mills Ave, but he retired and closed his place (just found out he gets his hair cut here too!) Eveyone I have used here has done a great job. This is definitely an old school barber shop; as prior military, it reminds me of a lot of places on base or in town. I keep my hair very much like I did in the Marines (old habits die hard, and it is easy to maintain), and they certainly know how to give a military haircut. The price is fair, and I always tip well. This place is a treasure and a throwback to the baberbershops of previous decades; I highly recommend it!

Tommy is a really great old school barber. I got a great haircut and had my beard trimmed up . He did a fantastic job!

Really really nice guy but he left a bowl on my head and didn’t fade it. It looks ridiculous. Not going back, people are too nice. I’m looking for a haircut not a long time friend. Bowl on head= not a good hair cut. He focused on my left side so much that he left my right side longer as well. He kept standing on my left side and not near as much as my right. He didn’t measure up the two of them from straight ahead, he just stood on my left side and shaved more on that side. A “0 Fade” means it’s faded so well you can’t tell where the next length begins, it’s blended. If you like your fade, you probably won’t like his. $18 and I was too generous with the $5 tip. Like I said - really nice guy, cheap haircut. Old dogs can’t learn new tricks.

I've been going to Yates Barber Shop for more than 22 years. Mr. Upton and his employees are always welcoming and provide a great atmosphere. Mr. Upton has been cutting my hair from the first time I went there and I will continue to seek him out. He and his other barbers do a great job with everyone that walks through their door! I totally recommend the shop.

Been going here for about 10 years now. Always a quality haircut for a fair price. Mr. Upton is incredibly skilled with maintaining haircuts and beards, highly recommend a shave!
