Tida's Hair Braiding

I just got my hair done by you all today. I need to come back in for some fixing because one I’m not sure why my twist were started with braids but I don’t like that and secondly the ends are super thin and I have thick hair so it’s starting to look old already. You guys are probably closed tomorrow since it’s Easter but this is not what I expected it would be. The 1st picture is what I wanted

I do not recommend tida at all. This is my second time visiting her. The first time I got me and my mom’s hair done and my mom’s twist didn’t last. I came to her a week ago for cornrows. I didn’t realize when she was doing them that they would be so excruciatingly tight. I noticed on the ride home I had trouble turning my neck and that turned into neck pain that continued. Then I had headaches every day. The hair was pulling where the side part of the braids were and I lost some hair in the front. She had so much hair extensions stuffed at the back of my head and around my ears. I was hoping that things would get better in the first few days but they did not. 5 days later and I was still in very bad pain taking pain meds everyday. I give two stars because I support black business owners. I had a very bad experience at this shop. I came in with a picture of how I wanted my hair and I was assured that it was possible to achieve. As we were going, I was constantly checking to ensure we were headed in the right direction, in terms of the style I wanted. I kept expressing my disdain and she kept assuring me. We finished, and it was NOT at all what I wanted. She said, "you'll see, you'll love it." Three days later, I returned to say that I hated my hair and she pretended not to understand what I was saying. Perhaps they'll understand this review.

I would normally not post a negative review, however, I would be doing possible future supporters a huge disservice by remining silent. I've patronized Tida a several times prior to this visit; a couple of sew-in-braid-sow-downs, take-downs, and a couple of quick braid styles for my teenaged daughter (the average cost = $50, so no major work or time involved). I had faux locs installed by a salon in Sandy Springs and they lasted for approximately 3 months; i stopped by Tida take down, (which i was reluctant to do bcause I loved them so much) during which time we discussed her doing my next set the following day or so. Tida said hers would be much better. I let Tida install the goddess locs and they LOOKED BEAUTIFUL)!!!! They were soft, flexible, and basically pain free and I fell in love.

Tida does great braided hair styles for me over the years! I'm fully aware that improvements are necessary when doing business independently. Black Lives Matter. Black Legacy Matters.
