I moved to Ames for work and went for a few times to get my hair cut at the Groom Room. I booked with Ann everytime and she remembered well what I wanted and how to cut it best. Pleasant experience and always walked out happy with my new haircut :)

My boyfriend had a beard & mustache trim appointment and unfortunately had an accident a few days before that. When he wanted to get a later appointment (called a day before) they had no sympathy for him and still forced him to come the next day or they would still charge him for the appointment if he wouldn’t come. So he paid 28.49$ even though the upcoming photo shooting was canceled due to his accident… He was only asking to get a later appointment and would have still paid them…. What a customer service! Things happen!

I’ve been going to the Groom Room for 2 year since I’ve been attending Iowa State. The staff are SO NICE and are very social. Today I was biking to my appointment, and I crashed my bike. I was bleeding on my right knee and elbow. When I got to the appointment Ann Corwin got some gauze and bandages and helped clean the wounds. She’s so nice and genuinely cares about her customers. If you’re an Ames, you HAVE to get your haircut at the Groom Room!

Online appointment booking, cashless payment at counter, proactive staff - good experience overall! Ms. Kendra did a great job - keen attention to detail.

I am a hospice nurse, and Troy, (I believe that's his name) came to the hospice house to cut a patient's hair. This was one of his biggest goals..to get his hair cut and look more presentable before he passed. Troy took his time, he treated him so nicely, and did a wonderful job for him. I was impressed with his kindness, professional demeanor and the compassion he showed to this man in his last days. It was truly a gift, and a bright light in our crazy world. Thank you...from all of us.💙
