I first met Akilah in 2022, shortly after I moved to Ann Arbor for a year. I contacted her on Instagram and had to wait a while to see her - but she has truly been worth the wait! She is exceptionally knowledgeable about Russian manicures and nail health. Her attention to detail is unmatched, especially when it comes to meticulous cuticle work, which is one reason why her manicures last so long and look so "fresh and so clean, clean". One of the things I appreciate most is how seriously she takes safety and sanitation. All equipment is appropriately sterilized, and she follows strict hygiene protocols. I had my first Russian manicure at The Gel Room and I am beyond impressed. The space was extremely clean, the experience was relaxing, and the attention to detail was unmatched. Akilah was incredibly professional and took her time to ensure perfection. This truly feels like an investment in the health and appearance of your nails. I’m looking forward to growing out my natural nails. I will never go back to traditional manicures again!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about The Gel Room. Akilah does my manicures and they are by far the best I have ever had. Every detail is done with such care, precision, and true artistry. My nails have never looked this clean, elegant, or perfectly shaped. She creates such a peaceful, welcoming space, and you can tell she genuinely loves what she does. I am newer client of Akiliah's, two sets in and hopefully many more to come! I can confidently say she is one of the most dedicated and kind nail technicians I've ever met! Her commitment to quality and her meticoulous nature show in every set she's done for me. I am beyond happy with her work every time and even happier with the transformation of my nail health after only two sets! If a nail goddess were such a thing, Akilah would be it! Her service is quite literally the best out of all of the places I’ve lived around the US. She took my nails from rough and rugged, to looking like I’m a hand model. I receive compliments on the daily! Before finding her, I had been on the hunt for a high quality nail professional for years!! There is no going back for me! She is extremely detail oriented, uses high-quality, durable products and actually knows what she’s talking about! Not to mention… my Russian manicure lasted me over 6 weeks!
