The Family Barbershop

Brenda at The Family Barbershop is truly something special. She cut all three of my kids’ hair on Friday, and I cannot say enough good things about both her skill and the experience she created. My 3-year-old has never allowed anyone other than me to cut his hair after a bad experience last year. Brenda understood him immediately - she got right down on his level, took the time to figure out what made him nervous, and gently helped him see there was nothing to be afraid of. While she is incredibly gentle, she’s also calm and confidently firm in an almost teacher-like way that kids respond so well to. For my 1-year-old, this was his very first haircut, and he didn’t make a single peep the entire time. And my 5-year-old daughter? She walked out saying she only wants Brenda to cut her hair

I had a bad experience at this barbershop. I walked in and politely said hello with a smile. The lady gave me a dirty look and didn’t acknowledge me. She looked annoyed and said, “You need an appointment. Did you not see the sign outside saying you have to sign in?” That’s not how you treat customers or do business. You’ve lost a customer.

My whole family has been receiving the BEST haircuts by this barber for over 17 years! I loved when they moved away from walk-ins to HOURS by APPOINTMENT.

I’m honestly very angry writing this. I brought my 2 year old son in for a haircut today (he’s only ever had 3 in his life, so he’s still very scared by it), and the woman who cut his hair was incredibly rude, mocked him while he cried, told him he was being too loud, and actually tried to hold down his head so she could cut it. She made no attempts to calm him down, did not take her time with him, and in the end my child is even more scared of haircuts. Plus the haircut is awful - I have to get it redone as we were trying to get this haircut for family photographs this weekend. I understand that working with upset children can be difficult, but this woman just seemed annoyed by the entire thing and basically said as much. Brenda has been cutting my boys hair since their first one. They love going to see Miss Brenda. Always a great job. Super patient and kind.
