Mike is the best barber I’ve been to in New York. I have medium curly hair which isn’t the easiest to cut and Mike nails it every time. He really takes his time (the full hour) with each customer to understand your hair, exactly what you want, walk you through what he’s gonna do and makes sure it’s perfect every step of the way. Before meeting Mike I tried tons of barbers across NYC, some far more expensive, and nothing came close. You won’t go wrong coming here ! Mike Scissorhands is the man

I came here because one of the previous reviewers said Mike had done a great job with their thick and difficult to control hair (which I have). I really liked that Mike and I talked generally about what I was looking for at the beginning of the cut. Mike gave his input on what he thought was best to do with my kind of hair and suggested shaping it in a way I hadn't before. I really liked that he gave that advice and I ultimately loved how the cut came out. The shop is super clean. Mike's service was great. Loved the music he was playing, the way the shop has been decorated and Mike was super cool to talk to. I'll be going back for sure.

If you're looking for a personalized touch to getting your hair cut, The Clipping Grounds NYC is a good local small business to support. Mike is great stylist who actually cares a lot about his work and his clients. The studio is located in an office building and it has an artist studio vibe. Mike spent a good amount of time listening to what i needed done and delivered a great cut. Plus the music is great and you get some candy and a water bottle when you're done. Oh, and the hot towel with eucalyptus massage on the neck when complete felt great!
