★☆☆☆☆ 1.0 Justin Brown · Aug 2023

I sat down for a good read: maybe some interesting articles about local happenings and maybe some new scientific medical trials next to a nice hot cup of coffee and was met with pornographic advertising and terrible leftist propaganda! As an Austinite, I definitely do not feel represented by this newspaper and its political extremism on our city.

★★★★★ 5.0 JT Walker · Feb 2025

The best political coverage of Austin and Texas in general, and the only dedicated in house arts and culture reporting In austin. Highly recommended!

★☆☆☆☆ 1.0 Philippe Roger · Nov 2019

Jessi Cape is a biased "journalist" who gives her opinion and nothing else. The facts are more important than presenting a narrative she feels worthy of her feelings. A person and entity like this that continues to allow someone to create whatever narrative they decide is the problem with today's news and those who hold the power to tell it. Her unpleasantness and unwillingness to be a real journalist makes me upset.

★☆☆☆☆ 1.0 AC Lambert · Aug 2020

This newspaper continues to publish the work of Jessi Cape, a political activist who dabbles in bad-faith journalism. Though Jessi writes for the Chronicle "primarily about food, film, and books," her latest foray into political journalism is marred with omissions and bias. As such, I cannot recommend this paper to serious readers — though you may pick it up instead of The National Enquirer for a tabloid-like chuckle.

They keep Austin weird! They let us know what's happening when so we can be there! They let us know what's going on in town. A great local read!
