Studio IX

This place is great. I needed a temporary workspace while awaiting internet at my new home and they were able to accommodate. It's attached to a coffee shop, so it isn't totally quiet, but there is plenty of room and some smaller meeting areas you can block off in half-hour increments if you need privacy for a quick Zoom/phone call. The internet is reliable, there is plenty of free parking, the rates are fair and the staff is friendly. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area who needs a space to work for any amount of time.

I had never been there and it was quite a surprise. The coffee was great. The meeting rooms were comfortable and met our needs. A welcome addition to Charlottesville meeting space.

Studio IX is my home away from home. Whether it's for hosting volunteer meetings, making a private work call on Zoom, or meeting a friend for coffee, Studio IX is where I'm most comfortable. I've also hosted a large community event in the Gallery and Café. I brought in catered food and drinks in the cafe and then hosted a concert, film, and discussion in the Gallery. It was the perfect space for 50 people—open enough for everyone to have a seat and tight enough that it felt like "the place to be" that night. It was a huge success. I recommend Studio IX to friends regularly and have found some of my closest friends in the city there. The space and the community (and the coffee!) are what make it my second home.

I came to Studio IX seeking an office, and instead I gained a new sense of “the workplace” - it’s not just my desk-away-from-home, it’s a community, and a trove of resources, personal as well as professional. My business has grown as a result of the relationships that I’ve developed here, for sure. I’ve also become friends with business owners who work in unrelated fields, and we are each empowered by the support we find in one another. Also, it’s a community hub with a beautiful event space. Hardly a week goes by without an interesting, member-friendly event (art installation openings, concerts/live radio show broadcasts, speakers). And the Art Park and all of its entertaining, healthy quirkiness is just steps away. Critically, the coffee is really, really good.

If I could choose, I'd only go places I can rate 5 stars. IX is one of them. Come and see! The Saturday market happening there is a hidden gem: it shows me the area can be self served with anything and everything, we really could do without the Walmarts, the Costcos, the Starbucks, even the Whole Foods – this place is so fertile, the products so good and the people so friendly.
