I decided to treat myself to some relaxation and "me time" at Sonko African Hair Braiding on this 4/20. I had previously spoken with the owner via cell, discussing the specific style I desired: a bob length, medium boho knotless braid with a curly end. Since the salon no longer provided the type of boho hair I wanted, I purchased two human hair boho bundles online. Following HER instructions, I arrived promptly at 7:40 AM on Saturday. Two skilled ladies were already at work—one parting my hair and braiding, the other handling the human hair I had brought. But then, in walked the owner. She asked if I had an appointment, despite our prior conversation on the phone and our text exchange. I would give zero stars if I could! The owner is extremely rude and unprofessional. I arrived for my 8:00 a.m. appointment at 8:03 a.m., running three minutes late due to traffic. She came out from the back, didn’t greet me, and simply asked, “What are we doing, waist length?” I was confused because I had booked online and replied, “No, regular length.” I originally booked butt length, but changed my mind because I didn’t want them too long for school, since I’m starting back soon. When I offered to help split my boho hair, she didn’t respond—just combed it with a dirty comb, added gel, and handed it to me. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this braiding establishment if you are interested in having or keeping a healthy scalp. Right now I am in excruciating pain from the amount tension the shop owner used while installing my box braids. My scalp is throbbing and is on fire from this braid install. It is not necessary to use extreme tension to a achieve a neat set of braids. I already know I will not be sleeping well tonight. I am considering taking them down, but do not want to waste the money or time invested.

Okay okay. They do a great job first off. My 2 issues are you never know who will work on your hair, they always have new faces. Second, there was a time when I paid one price and when I went back for the same service it was more!. Just make sure they apply the deposit and get a quote before they start!.

My appointment was for 10 but I arrived early and waited for my time, there were 2 ladies ahead of me so I knew I would have to wait, I got in the chair a few minutes after ten which was no big deal. So long story short, The lady who started on my hair which I believe was the owners sister came off kind of rude she asks me was everything ok and what’s wrong with my hair, so I asked what do you mean she proceeds to tell me that my head is big but my hair is small which I felt was very rude and unprofessional especially to say in front of other customers, now don’t get me wrong I know my hair was uneven in some places but if you couldn’t or didn’t want to do my hair just say that, I can only respect your opinion and decide if I want to spend my money there or leave, she then keeps going bac
