Shy's Hill

Located within a nice neighborhood on top of the hill with great views. Quick hike up the hill, you can be done and gone in 30 minutes or less. Not much to it really but the views are worth it.

Make sure you have your hiking shoes on. The trail to the top is well maintained, but definitely would give some a challenge due to the steepness.

Definitely wear shoes and winter does provide great views. This is a big hill with an interpretive board. It's quiet and peaceful. As a history buff you can sit back and just feel, thinking of how many lost their lives in this little place. The place was very clean of trash, most likely because of the neighborhood. There is a little bench to sit on once you reach the top, so a great place to just sit or take a break from the climb. Definitely worth the trip here.

This free attraction has potential but lacks upkeep. The winding steep gravel path to the top offers history information, but disappointingly, no impressive features like cannons. At the summit, three flag poles stand with weather-beaten, sad flags. Despite its neglect, this place possesses untapped charm and deserves revitalization. It beckons for attention to restore its former splendor. Would not go again.

Sad that one of the most pivitol locations of one of the most pivitol battles in American history is limited to a few acres of preserved land. What is preserved is beautiful. I guess I'd like to see a bit more information at the top of the hill but I appreciate what the preservationists have been able to do. You can feel the ghosts up there; if you listen close you can hear the lessons the dead are trying to share. I got chills!
