San Marcos Barbershop

I have been wanting to find a local barber for my 15 year old son and I finally decided to go with San Marcos Barbershop. Mari did my son’s hair and it looks great ! In his words “ She was nice , she listened to my requests and obviously knew what she was doing . To me this is the best haircut I’ve ever had “

Despite the sign that said walk ins welcome and opposite of what it says here they apparently don’t take walk ins. 1 barber on a Saturday and they said the had no time all day despite no other customers but one old gentleman they were finishing up with.

My first visit/cut here was today and I couldn't have asked for a better experience, I walked in as Mari was finishing with a customer and was welcomed immediately. As I waited I noticed a turntable with a modest collection of classic 60s r&b/soul favorites and some obscure Latino/Chicano soul albums too. Puro cultura. I was kindly obliged when I asked if I could play an album before climbing into the chair. Whaaaat? For reals.. Mari was attentive to my style request and gave way more effort and detail to my cut than I expected. All while maintaining great conversation. I've had hundreds of barber cuts from highly experienced civilian snd military barbers I have to say that Mari may be the best barber I have ever used. Rudy and Mari are amazing! Oldest barber shop I know of. It's been operating on the square in San Marcos over 100 years. Very cool spot.
