No words. First the braider that was doing my hair had her baby with her IN THE SALON and was going over every few minutes to her to feed/ change/ soothe her. Fine. I can let that slide. Then if that wasnt enough I relized she CANT DO KNOTTLESS BRAIDS! I asked for knottless braids when I made the appointment...I have attached a picture of the "braids" that I was left with after walking out.

Honestly I wanted to like this place. They were able to book me last minute for a wash, blow dry and 6 cornrows. When I arrived, the shop was busy but my service started within a few minutes. The first red flag occurred at the wash bowl, when the lady doing my hair started to detangle my hair while it was dry. Anyone with 4C hair knows that this is a huge violation. When I pointed this out, the woman got a spray bottle and continued to detangle my slightly wet hair. During the blow dry, I continually had to remind the woman to spray heat protectant. She roughly blew dried my hair, causing a lot of shedding. I have been getting cornrows my entire life, and these were some of the tightest. I had an appointment with this salon today. I just wanted my hair washed and detangled. The lady with the baby did my hair. To my horror, she lightly sprayed my hair with a detangler on my majority dry hair. I’ve never had that done before. I always thought that with black hair, you wash the hair first and then you detangle the hair. I wasn’t even at the wash bowl when she was detangling my hair. I don’t know if that method is what Africans do but us Foundational Black Americans, we have our hair soaking wet when we detangle. Then when it comes time to wash my hair, it felt like a very light wash. I didn’t feel the slip or anything. Hands down, the best place to get a retwist and loc style. Been going here for 3 years and love every bit of this place. I’m super picky about my hair and will not let anyone but Aminata do my hair. She’s the best y’all. She puts love into your hair man. Take her time and she makes her own products. Smells like an heavenly oasis. She never ever disappoints. This Senegalese Queen knows what she is doing.

I decided to try this salon after seeing all the positive reviews, but sadly I did not have a good experience here. The first thing I noticed was the poor hospitality and lack of communication. I have 5 month old locs, and booked a retwist appointment, but when I arrived they were not aware that they needed to wash my hair...Strange as a loc salon, but they were able to wash my hair. Amina was my stylist. She was very rough, sprayed water in my face, and did not clean my hair at all.
