Haircuts have never been simple for us. They’ve been tears. Anxiety. Bracing myself before we even walk in. The buzzing sound. The feeling of the cape. The clippers near his ears. It’s not “just a trim.” It’s sensory overload. It’s fight or flight. Today I didn’t have to apologize. I didn’t have to explain autism 10 times. I didn’t feel judged. Eddie was patient and also specifically specialized . He read my son’s body language. He worked with him, not against him. He even put on his favorite cartoon… And for a mom who is used to advocating every second? That felt like exhaling. If you’re an autism family and haircuts are hard for you too . Isee you. Eddie Rivera did an absolutely amazing job cutting my son’s hair! My son has sensory sensitivities, and haircuts can sometimes be a challenge, but Eddie was patient, understanding, and so kind throughout the entire process. He worked quickly and efficiently while still paying attention to every detail. He truly listened to everything we requested and delivered the best haircut my son has ever had. It’s clear he cares about his clients and takes pride in his work. We couldn’t be happier with the experience and will definitely be coming back. By far the best experience we’ve had for our son’s haircut (3.5 y/o autistic). From the moment we walked in we were greeted by friendly faces. Eddie introduced himself and made us feel welcome. Eddie was friendly, calm and patient and right away made our son feel at ease. He got him in the chair and showed him that the clippers were not scary and wouldn’t hurt. He worked quickly which also helped my son stay relaxed and not get overwhelmed. He got a great haircut, at a great price and we will 100% be back. There’s no where else we’d take our son for a haircut. What a wonderful business and kind man. It’s amazing to have a place like this for kids with special needs.

We have two sons with autism and have been taking them to Eddie for a while now. It has been a huge relief to find a barber who specializes working with autistic kids. He makes us feel understood as parents, he makes our kids feel comfortable, he is aware of sensory needs, and manages to leave our kids with perfect hair cuts each time! We are grateful for Eddie and his work.

My son has been going to New Style for a few years now, and every barber has been both professional and kind. My son has autism and Tourette’s, and Eddie works around his tics and light sensitivity with ease, always making him feel comfortable and respected. As he transitions into adulthood, we are working to support his independence and social confidence, and Eddie and New Style have made this process so much easier. My son always leaves his appointments feeling great about how he looks and uplifted from the respectful and supportive interaction.
