Modish Nail Spa Plymouth-Whitemarsh

I went with my daughter for her birthday. She had a lovely experience, her tech Celia was really good. I on the other hand did not have the same experience. My tech Rose left a lot to be desired. Start with being distracted and stabbing me twice with nail clippers, a lazy massage with little to no effort, to taking multiple phone calls, one on speaker for 3 minutes with her friend Thuy N., there is a larger than normal gap from the base of the Polish to my cuticle where my nails already look out grown- after just having them done. They market themselves as a spa like salon, I would beg to differ. Staff had loud conversations frequently, they had current hits music playing, cringingly with curse words, so sitting there next to my young daughter was a little embarrassing and uncomfortable.

I have been to so many nail salons in my life and Modish is by far the best. I have been going monthly for about a year and have never had a bad experience. Everyone is always so kind and it is very clean. Whenever I walk in, I immediately feel welcomed. I have had a few different nail techs, who have all been wonderful but Baron is my absolute favorite. He is not only extremely talented but always has me leaving with a smile on my face. The prices might be slightly higher than other local salons but is 100% worth the price. Lastly, if you book with other people, they make it a priority to have you seated with that person which makes the experience so much more enjoyable. I want to preface by saying I like this place. It's clean and the staff is super sweet. I'm giving it two stars because I got my nails done recently and was charged what, in over a decade of getting my nails done, I think is an outlandish amount of money for my set. A regular fill and gel polish here runs about $60-70. I got a festive design and was charged $160. That price was not communicated with me ahead of time. The design took a little over 2.5 hours. While the set is pretty, the execution is not anywhere near that price point. The best nail artists in Philly charge around that for a perfectly executed and complex set. $100-110 would have been reasonable. Such a great nail place!!! The artists are very kind, friendly, and fun. The nails are always perfect!!! The shaping & smoothness, etc of the acrylic sets I’ve gotten there have been better than anywhere else around. I believe Chau Lam & Lunfang Wang did me & my bfs matching nails & we had so much fun! Will did my nails this time & was the best to talk to & they look great ☺️ Also you can get free wine & drinks🍷 and they give 10/10 hand massages! 😍

I was a patron for several months. Lexy was wonderful. My nails went from breaking easily to now strong and hardly ever breaks anymore. She has been doing my nail designs as well. Very professional and an overall lovely person. She had to leave this salon as another nail tech had assaulted her at work. The owner is also very rude. I was early for my appointment one time and was waiting then the owner saw me waiting then he tried to convince me to have another nail tech do my nails. I told him I was happy to wait for Lexy rather than have another nail tech do my nails.
