Makoula African Hair Braiding

Place is horrible!!! They charged me $200 for spring twist and my briads were falling out the same the next day. I spent my vacation trying to style signs around my braids coming out at the slightest touch. They refuse to do them over without charging all over again. This picture is the very next day!! Stay away, they lie and are dishonest people!!!

This place is absolutely filthy first of all. The owner should be embarrassed. I got goddess braids and all of the curly hair fell out within minutes of leaving the shop. There is an African Braiding Shop on every street in Harlem. There is no reason why they shouldn’t be able to do the 1 hair style everyone is asking for. I insisted on them fixing it and after a while they accepted that they messed up and fixed it for me. After reading the reviews I see that this shop was always like this but I am grateful that they fixed my hair. I just think they should make some improvements on their skill set.

The people were nice, but the work was subpar. I called the shop to verify that they could take down my previous style and wash my hair... when i asked the stylist, she got seemingly upset and said your hair is fine. (I workout 4 to 5 times a week and had my braids in for 4 weeks)... so it was pretty dirty. I basically washed my own hair bc she didn't appear to know to wash the a scalp, not just rub through the hair. I didnt mind, but that was weird. (The rinse from my hair was brown and murky by the way, so I definitely needed the wash) Lastly the work... the picture is from the day of and though its not aweful, it looks 2 weeks old already. Not clean or neat work at all. They charged $60 for this style, but eventually said $50. I dont recommend this place or at least make sure you go to

My hair came out nice. Ommah is the woman that does my hair. Will continue to keep coming to this hair braiding salon.

Worst experience ever! Would not recommend to anyone and wish I could give 0 star. Rude staff. "Oumou" (the owner?) told me to shut up when I was trying to explain the style I wanted because she cannot focus when I am talking. But then she had no problem talking to/yelling at the other ladies while doing my hair! She didn't respect me and also didn't do the style I wanted. She doesn't listen to customers. I am not even surprised... The lady who started doing my hair was the worst! She was extremely slow and maybe took 10mn to do 1 braid. She stopped and went to eat and then prayed for some time when I told her I needed to leave by 1:30pm. She kept saying it would be done by then. Guest what? It was not!
