Madison Reed Hair Color Bar Fairfax, VA

This was my first time at Madison Reed and it will be my last time. To give some context i had booked an appointment to do a root touch up and a blow out. The colorist who did my hair (Beatrice/Beatriz(unsure of spelling)) did not even introduce herself and i had to find out afterwards after contacting the salon. Once I was seated she scanned my head which i assume is typical here and asked me about 4 questions that weren’t relevant. She proceed to do my hair but not even show me the color she mixed or walking me through the process which i found odd as someone who frequently dyes their hair. The few times she spoke to me was to continuously ask me to sign up for a membership which i assume they have to but she continued to ask me 3 more times during my appointment. She then told me how

I am torn on this one because the person who assisted me strongly felt in their mind that they were really trying to be helpful. I tried to explain what I wanted and why, and I even showed example pics of what I liked, only to be met with a silent look and a continuation of ignoring my appointment request and trying to talk me into something that I did not want at all. This went on for 20 minutes, and the colorist flat-out refused to listen to what I wanted to get done and instead focused on what they thought I should want, which was NOT at all even close to what I wanted. Yesterday April 18, 2025, I had the worst salon experience of my life. I paid for a full balayage, expecting a fresh and blended look, but left feeling more disappointed than ever. Before the appointment, I showed the stylist a photo of the look I wanted (First pic of the review) and discussed it in detail. She assured me she could achieve it. However, the final result was nothing like what I asked for. The color applied was a blond tone I never requested, which doesn’t suit my skin tone at all. I specifically wanted a balayage to address the nearly 5 inches of natural dark brown roots I had. Love Madison Reed! Have been a member now for over 1.5 years now! So convenient to schedule through app I’ve never had trouble scheduling an appt when I need one. What great grey coverage and fast service! They also have other add on services at discounted member rates! The color bar is always busy which tells me how many people love going to Madison Reed. All the stylists are great! You will not regret becoming a member one bit! I go every 2 weeks! Enjoy!

Unfortunately, if I say my experience was horrible is an understatement. From the start, when Ricky checked me in, he had an attitude and was dismissive and discourteous while explaining the color options and services. His tone and demeanor were unprofessional and lacked even basic courtesy. Due to his attitude, I requested a different stylist, who treated me with the professionalism and kindness and did an excellent job with my hair. Unfortunately, the situation escalated further when it was time for my wash. Ricky approached me, tapped me on the shoulder abruptly, and in a noticeably unfriendly tone instructed me to come to the wash area.
