I’ve been to a lot of barbershops in New York over the years, but my experience with Michael at Made Men Barbershop in Chelsea is hands down the best I’ve ever had. From the moment I sat down in the chair, I could tell I was in the hands of a true professional who genuinely takes pride in his craft. Michael doesn’t just give you a haircut — he gives you a transformation. He listens carefully to what you want, makes thoughtful suggestions based on your hair type and face shape, and executes with precision. The fade was seamless, the shape was clean, and the attention to detail was on another level. Era is the best barber I’ve had in NYC. Had a hard time trying to find a good barber that can trim hair AND do tapers. He also always does my designs so clean each time. I definitely recommend.

I came in today with a clear reference photo of the haircut I wanted a clean, medium-length style with natural flow and volume (photo attached). What I ended up with looks nothing like it. The barber cut the sides way too short, the back is uneven and sticks up awkwardly, and the top is nowhere near the right length or shape. When I brought it up, the barber tried to make excuses, saying my hair wasn’t as thick as the guy in the photo, but that doesn’t justify ignoring the overall shape and proportions. He also insisted the back was “the same,” even though it clearly isn’t. This was a completely disappointing experience. Although they didn't charge me, now I’ll have to wait weeks for it to grow out enough to fix. Definitely would not recommend this place if you expect barbers to follow i
