Lisa African Hair Braiding

Recently went to this establishment and my hair came absolutely amazing. The hairstyle I asked for was box braids and it was installed by hairdresser Laura. I've been getting many complements from her work and I would be definitely coming back in the future for further installations.

I'll start off by saying my hair turned out great and I'm pleased with the result. I got medium sized box braids. The price was reasonable, you can always call ahead and book an appointment or ask for prices. Now on to my experience. I called and scheduled an appointment for 10 but didn't start until after 11 which was fine because she was pretty quick. I would recommend washing and stretching your hair if necessary. I did not have my hair stretched (or blown out) but they did that for me thankfully. For reference, I'm not tender headed and when I was getting my hair braided it didn't hurt in my opinion. I thought she was very gentle and if you are tender headed she could adjust to that as well. Overall I would recommend!

The first few times I went here, they did a great job, but the last two times have been awful. The time before this visit, I got box braids which were too tight and causing tension bumps. I asked about fixing them, and Missy, who did my hair, tells me to fix it in the shop would be an extra fee. So I just let it go. I ended up taking them out and going to another place in Harlem that took care of my hair. This time, I wanted passion twists on my now short hair. I was debating even making the appointment, but I have a work trip and figured I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Nope. The woman does crochet twists, cause she says passion twists will fall out - that sounds logical. I want to say everytime I go get my hair braided I never leave unhappy. I’m from Brooklyn so finding the right stylist out here was important. No only does my hair grow ; they actually care about your hair. They wouldn’t do your hair if they feel it will break it or cause further damage. So that goes to show it’s not about the money. I greatly appreciate the energy and time management. Fire a** braids in a timely manner. On top of good energy throughout the salon. Love it !

Lara was amazing! She braided my hair in 4 hours and it looks AMAZING! She was kind and solicitous, and made me feel very comfortable! I will go there again. It is a small place, but everyone who works there does so with a smile!
