Kia's African Hair Braiding

I made a same day appointment for waist length, small. boho knotless. The shop is clean and bright. They let me eat for 30 minutes while they prepped my hair. Be mindful you do have to bring in your own boho. I went to JC beauty across the street and bought two packs of bundles for fuller boho. They started around 1 and finished around 9:35. Paid $250 not including tip or boho hair.

Love the new location!! Same great service with professional, amazing results! I’ve been getting my hair braided since the early 90’s and this is consistently my favorite experience. Boho, traditional box braids, braid downs, they can do it all and I leave with my edges and no headache! I highly recommend! Thank you ladies.

I didn’t want to leave this review because I’ve known the owner, Kia, since I was a kid, but this experience was really disappointing. The appointment took much longer than it should have due to multiple long breaks, and even though I sent the style I wanted and explained my hair length beforehand, I was given box braids instead of knotless braids. A month later, some braids were still extremely painful. When I started taking them down, my hair came out at the root. I could clearly see the bulbs, which are my hair follicles. I reached out to Kia about it and never received a response. I’ve never had my hair pulled out before, but now that there are multiple braiders, the quality feels like a luck of the draw. Please be careful! No hairstyle is worth losing your hair and/or being patchy!

Pricey and takes hours, but probably one of the best places in a city like Louisville to get authentic braiding. My girlfriend keeps choosing to come back here, says they're almost as good as back in Africa. They do have some braids here, but if you have an unusual hair color then it would be a good idea to bring your own.

Let's start with the said they supply the hair they didn't have my color (tried to put orange hair in my hair was red )so I purchased my own hair she didn't provide me with a discount I was charged 220. While 2 of my coworkers were only charged 200 then the ladies told me it would be 250 (which is what I paid in total) after I had already paid the owner. Also I asked for for normal or slightly at shoulder blade length was given butt length braids I expressed before I left they were too long went back the next day to ask to have them cut she said she couldn't cut them she would curl them to make them shorter the ends were already curly.
