Kady African Braiding @ Richmond

My daughter and I have been coming to Kady African Braiding's Richmond location since 2018. We always have a good experience and our braids are beautifully and neatly done. Today, I had an unfortunate experience with my braider and felt compelled to write a review. I initially booked an appointment for small knotless braids. In fairness, I am natural and my hair is shorter in the back and on the sides. The braider started the first two rows in the back and then suggested I switch to box braids instead and I agreed with her with no issue. My issue with today's service is she had a few telephone conversations and she would speak in her native language but kept mentioning "small knotless", "box braids" and in one conversation she even used the word "akata" which is very offensive to African A

I’ve been coming to this place for years, my sylist no longer works there so I got stuck with a no talent Braider and walk out like this for $250 that I took out 3 days later After I kept telling her I didn’t like it, she keep pressing that she is fixing it When the lady was done she said she didn’t know how to do this style, I asked why you didn’t say anything I would’ve changed the style I know I will not waste another dollar here

The only reason I’m giving them a one star is because Google will not let me give them a 0 star rating. I went on yesterday May 25th for what I thought would be a nice twist style and ended up walking out the door looking like the lady with the snakes sticking out her head. The hair they told me to get didn’t match the style I wanted and the lady that braided my hair tells me I should’ve gotten Cuban twist hair instead. When they texted me and told me to get Afro Twist hair! The parts in the back of my head are huge and then when you get to the top of my head they are very tiny. I HATE MY HAIR WITH A STRONG PASSION AND I HATE I JUST GAVE THEM $200 because I am taking my hair down as I type. I wish I could put pictures to show

I wish I could give 0 stars. I came in asking about a style for my daughter. I don’t know a lot about braids so I wanted to be sure her hair was sufficient for the style. One stylist asked the other stylist to look at my daughter’s hair so I would know the best style to get. She was rude and basically ignored the request and said she had a client. I am a professional so I understand. It would have been better to say please I have a client but if she could come back at x time I would be glad to provide a consult. I felt that no business should act this way. It left my daughter hurt because she was so excited to get her hair braided. I will be sure to not ever come back.

I do not recommend this place. I went to the Richmond location on Wednesday to get my hair done before I am out to bed. I am 9 months pregnant and was in need to fix my hair. I didn’t want long braids that would take a long time because of the pain that I would experience for sitting in a chair for so long. So I decided to do a short bob. I wanted it to be knotless. When I showed the braiders the style, they insisted that the bob will only look good if it is box braids and not knotless because knotless will look too thin because the style is short. They suggested that I either do box braids or curl the ends. I declined to curl the ends because I was fearful that it would make me look like an older lady when I’m only 35. I insisted that they just do the knotless braids shoulder length and w
