Joy African Hair Braiding

I had my locs started here almost two years ago. The pictures are from start to now. If these photos don’t prove this is the right hair salon then I don’t know what would. I get compliments on my locs everywhere I go. I can’t thank Joy enough it’s been two years and I still have to pay my respects cause they got me right.

I use to like this hair salon until this last visit. I felt as if the stylist was ripping my hair, while braiding it. She would pull my course hair so vigorously with her fingers, instead of combining through my hair. She could have applied something to detangle my hair anything but just yanking on my hair. It got worse the more irritated she got with my course hair. It hurt so bad. It seem as if she didn't want to do the style. Which she could have told me no and done something else. We could have figured it out but then to charge me $270. It went from $240, then $260, to $270. They charged for the hair that was supposed to be included in the price. I will never got to this salon again. I wouldn't recommend this shop if you are tender headed. The style is nice so I still was respectful. T

Clean, Friendly, and easily available. Not very affordable or timely considering they were unable to do her Senegalese twist and it took longer than expected.

I had an amazing experience getting my braids done by Mary at African Braiding Services! She was professional, gentle, and worked quickly without compromising quality. My braids came out neat, clean, and exactly how I wanted them.

They let my daughter walk out with two braids SIGNIFCANTLY different sized. I spoke to the owner and the one who did her hair and neither offered a refund only for her to come back in to be rebraided. I informed both the first time she came in she was treated very rude and left and this time she walked out with messed up hair. I will never let her step foot in there again. We went to SHALOM BRAIDING who have treated her amazing BOTH times. Even the women getting their hair done could not believe they let her walk out looking like that. A complete shame to allow someone to walk out like that and the only time she was given a mirror was to confirm the part was "good" I would have never tipped $30 if I knew my child was walking out looking a mess
