I truly wanted to continue coming back here and love this place because the idea of a natural hair school is so needed and important. I was even driving a hour away just to come and support. That said, I feel like there are some areas where the professionalism could really be improved. There have often been issues with booking through the website, which caused confusion and miscommunication with appointments. In addition, while getting my hair done, I’ve sometimes witnessed situations that felt uncomfortable as a customer—mainly the way the owner has spoken to staff or addressed internal matters in front of clients. I understand that we all have stressful days, but as customers, we shouldn’t hear or see private staff critiques during service. Those things could be better handled in staff

The school is just as bad as the salon. The first thing out of the teachers mouth was “I’m a licensed stylist”. Being licensed is NOT an indication of skill level. I have a drivers license but that doesn’t mean I’m a good driver. I came at 4:30pm I left AFTER 9pm. I asked for crochets medium length. Anybody with a working brain can see by the attached picture that this hair-do was a catastrophe! I look like the cowardly lion from the Wizard of Oz. I spent $155 and was there nearly five hours for the teacher and students to mess me up. I got what I asked for but the results were awful. Two weeks later I came back to the SALON side of Gifted Hands and the entire experience was worse than the school side. (Read my review) Save your TIME and money and go to an African braiding shop.

This place is a great place to get your hair braided in a timely manner. The earliest appointments are the ones I choose the most... Even though I be like 5-10 mins late most off the time. The instructors Ms. Niq and Ms. T are so professional with their knowledge of the craft. And I like the fact that they have young girls/ ladies that also do hair, their work is professional. The owner is passionate about her business and you can see it shows in her work environment. You can tell her business is booming with repeat customers

Brittany Bailey is by far the best at small box braids!!!! She was so sweet and attentive to me throughout the whole service.You can tell she loves her craft because each braid is so precise she is very knowledgeable about everything I was asking her about. She asked me good questions if I had allergy to things since this was my first time getting box braids. Amazing energy in the salon, very entertaining they had a TV there, had some snacks and breaks if I needed. Well for sure come back to see Brittany

A good cut off time for accepting clients needs to be posted somewhere. I came at 4 the other day hair washed and blown out. They didn’t close for another hour and 30 minutes, just needed a braid down. Was denied service for the first time ever since I started getting my hair braided with them. I was a little disappointed because this has never happened before when they were in the beauty world with less people.
