Family Dentistry by Dr. Maroon

I had a disappointing experience at this dental office with Dr. Maroon and wanted to share so others know what to expect. Both my wife and I went in for treatment and left feeling very uncomfortable with how things were handled. Communication from Dr. Maroon and the staff was unclear, and the overall care felt rushed and impersonal. We didn’t feel the level of professionalism or attention that patients deserve during a dental visit. It’s unfortunate because finding a reliable dentist is important, but based on our visit, I wouldn’t recommend this office. There are other dental practices in the area that provide better communication, care, and overall service for their patients.

They over charge you for everything. Not inly that they also mess up with your teeth. They cut one of my tooth so much more than it required, that i got it sensitive to every food, they could not fix it ever. But charged me twice for the same mess they did. Insurance does not approve all their bills because they overcharge on everything, and after year or so they call you and say you have outstanding balance, even though you already paid your insurance copay/portion. The only thing they are good at is getting you in on appointment with very short time or even no time at all sometime, you can guess why is that. Such a nightmare, go somewhere else if you want to avoid wasting months of time. I was referred to Dr. Maroons office through VA community care back in April 2025. I got in for an exam and was told that they would send in the documentation for approval and call me back. Months later with still no word I called community care who told me that Dr. Maroons requests submitted had been denied due to it being too expensive. I was then told to tell contact the dentists office to submit 2 claims so that it separated the costs, which I did. I was told by Dr. Maroons office that it would be submitted once again but in separate claims. During the first dental consultation appointment it was determined I needed a deep cleaning because apparently as a new customer they do not provide basic dental cleaning without a deep cleaning service. Before starting the treatment they confirmed what my co pay would be with insurance. I paid $345 dollars with the understanding that my insurance would cover the rest. I found out from my dental insurance that this family dentist had not billed the insurance company. I called the dentist office and asked why and they said that they send invoices to insurance companies at a later time. Fast forward to 6 months later I receive an invoice for $188 that they say I still own. And refuse to bill my insurance and threaten to take me to collections. I hadn’t been to the dentist in over a decade, so walking in, I was nervous and unsure of what to expect. I was dealing with some pain, but tried to be “Mr. Tough Guy” and told the doctor I was okay. Thankfully, Dr. Dominique M. asked again, and I’m so glad she did. She made sure I was numbed up and comfortable before continuing. That moment showed me just how much she truly cares about her patients and the quality of her work. Dr. Dominique is excellent, and her team is just as incredible. Huge shoutout to Aylem and Luis, who were kind, attentive, and professional throughout the entire visit. From someone who avoided the dentist for years, I finally found a place I can trust, and actually want to come back to. Thank you to the entire team. I appreciate you all!
