I cannot recommend FR & my stylist, Brit, enough. As a neurodivergent person, I find the salon very overstimulating typically, so finding one that’s so accommodating & has people working there who are so catering to that community is incredible! Brit as a stylist is a miracle worker & your best friend. They will truly make you feel like they understand you within minutes of being in the chair, not to mention being so attentive to any needs I have. They let me know what they’re doing prior to doing it, ensure I’m comfortable the entire time, and your hair will turn out completely fabulous! I live in Chelsea now & make the journey to Somerville happily to see Brit & the FR team, this salon is truly one of a kind 💖

The stylists at Fairly Reckless are all gifted creatives with an abundance of skill and knowledge. They will make you look so good and they will teach you how to keep your hair looking great for as long as possible. They are kind, fun-loving, super cool human beings. I’ve been going to Katie, the proprietor, since 2012. She values her working relationships with her clients so highly. And I trust her to do work her magic, I always love the result, and she always makes me feel special. She’ll make you feel special, too! And I’ve seen the other stylists work, and they are So Good! Tirza and Britt do such beautiful work, and they treat their clients with such care. Sorry so long. This salon is incredible and these stylists are amazing. Go there!

The energy in this salon is immaculate, and it’s obvious from the moment you walk in the door that all of the stylists genuinely enjoy being there together - there’s none of that catty, fake niceness you tend to see at a lot of other places, and I don’t think any of these people are even capable of acting that way. I followed Brit when they moved to this salon, and I’m not even exaggerating when I say that they’re the only stylist I want putting their hands on my hair for the rest of my life. I’ve never been great at describing what I want to do with my hair, and when I first started seeing Brit, I’d had the same hair style for like 15 years. It's like magic when Katie does my hair. I STILL CANT BELIEVE I CAN JUST LOOK LIKE THIS? At this point, I trust Katie completely and can't imagine going to anyone else for color work. She's incredible. All the folks here are friendly, and from the moment I sat in the chair I was comfortable and felt cared for. I especially liked trying on that white fur coat to take pictures. I'm looking forward to my next color(s) and more magic :)

About the owner Katie: I have been seeing Katie since the fall of 2015 (almost 9 years ago!). In the dozens of appointments since, she has always been on time and delivered a cut or style that I love. I cannot recommend her enough. She styled my hair for my wedding, and now also cuts my husband’s curly hair. Three years ago, we moved 40 min away, but we still come to Somerville to see her. For the last couple of years, I have trusted her to do semi-permanent creative color on my hair, including purples and blues. She just recently made me blonde (My hair is naturally very dark brown!).
