Drybar - Nordstrom NYC

The hair stylist who did my hair was so harsh and tough on my hair. Seemed he was in a hurry to get over my turn so he can be ready for his next appointment. I told him in the beginning that i have fine hair so please be gentle. I am not sure what he heard (I guess he skipped hearing at all) and rather just went super harsh on my scalp and ruthless with the comb and styling. He finished up wash + mai tai style in less than 15mins!!!!! And the result well you can guess not what I have had in the past at drybar. I thought given thsi is at Nordstrom it should be better off but I was wrong. He didnt even checkin with me what I am looking for today. He just wanted to get the job done in less than 15mins. I would never recommend going there. Customers please watchout.

I had the worst experience I’ve ever had at a DryBar, which I’ve gone to for 10 yrs. I had Jai (altho others have been excellent—Kaori especially, +Brett & Myra). He finished in just 30 min, and didn’t fully even dry my hair! He left the lower layer damp (which of course then frizzes). He also lazily did it in large sections (maybe 1/5 of my entire head). Further, I specifically explained how I wanted lots of volume at the top and showed him pics, explaining that my hair is naturally very flat and limp and stringy looking. Yet he didn’t even blow it upward at the roots, instead placing his brush over the top of my hair rather than underneath, thereby blowing it straight down at the roots. I was super excited to find this Drybar salon in the Nordstrom flagship. It is so convenient for me when my usual stylist is unavailable. I had my first appointment on 12/19 with Myra. What a disappointing experience. When I made my appointment with the manager the day before I requested that my hair be dried with a paddle brush. She said she made a note in my file and would pair me with someone "good". Myra was barely "okay". We discussed the style I wanted and I requested that my hair be parted on the right side. She spoke like she understood and we went to the sink. Back at the station, she got ready to dry my hair and I saw that she had pulled out round brushes. Nicole and Josiah were unbelievably accommodating for my daughter on July 4th! At the last minute, her dance director required a style that we could not do on our own. I spoke with Nicole in the phone who assured me she could make it happen and after a brief consultation in person, Josiah went to work. In less than 30mins, her hair was styled exactly as requested, relieving stress and allowing her to feel confident for her upcoming performance. We are so grateful for their help on a holiday!

I’ve been a longtime supporter of the Drybar brand, not just in NYC, but across multiple states. That’s why this recent experience was so deeply disappointing and frustrating. For context, I have K-Tips (individual luxury extensions) and booked a full service, clearly noting in my appointment that I have extensions. Upon arrival, I was greeted and introduced to my stylist, who immediately asked if I was “dry styling.” I found this confusing , I had booked a full service, and it was unclear why she was unaware of this. While getting my hair washed, she asked the front desk (within earshot of others), “Did you add extra time for me? She has extensions, did she put that in the booking?” I felt compelled to interject and clarify that yes, I had in fact noted my extensions in the booking. It
