Daily Freeman

Omg. I had an online subscription- I couldn’t even read the articles because of the pop up ads. Called them to cancel because they have 0 instructions to cancel subscriptions online. The customer service operator had such a heavy foreign accent I couldn’t understand her. She tried to out-talk me to convince me not to cancel. It was horrible. Now I guess they will start spam calling me as described here in google reviews by other dissatisfied ex-customers.

It’s a shame. I like the newspaper itself. Unfortunately, if you end your subscription (or in my case, did not change an expired CC on file) their marketing team will harass you with multiple phone calls from different numbers, send you false and inflated bills, and provide zero transparency about subscription plans. I have had to block multiple numbers of theirs and I don’t plan to re-subscribe purely because of how skeevy they become if you end your subscription. Scammer behavior that ought to be avoided. I’ll try a different local news source because of this experience.

Accidentally had a subscription to this newspaper for over a year but never read it. When I finally cancelled it, I started getting spam calls non-stop giving me offers and asking me to resubscribe. No matter how many times I asked to be removed from their call list, I still got called again. I’m so frustrated by this unethical behavior.

My family has subscribed to this paper for as long as I can remember, but we had to cancel our subscription because for months, every single week there were multiple days we would not receive our paper. My mom has called so many times to alert them of this and it didn't help. My mom finally warned them that if we didn't receive our paper properly for a week that she would cancel our subscription. And that's when we had to cancel it. Surprise surprise someone then called us a week or so later trying to get my parents to resubscribe at a cheaper price for a period of time. My mom once again explained what happened, and added that every 6 months the price went up even though payments were always on time. Needless to say, we do not get the Daily Freeman anymore. We have subscribed to the Daily Freeman since 1989. The quality of the paper fell off a number of years ago and continues to deteriorate. The number of pages has dropped from 16-20 pages per section to, typically, eight. The worst, but not all, of the deterioration came with the change in ownership. A few years ago, printing was subcontracted to the Troy Record, about fifty miles away. As a result, nothing shows up in the Freeman that happened later than 6PM the day before. White space per page has increased significantly and formatting has changed to add more white space within the pages. An example: in the Sunday paper, the "This Day In History" column is printed on both the second and third pages and, on each page, at least four of five entries are the same as the other page's conten
