I attended events here as a guest and had multiple experiences that raised serious safety concerns. At one point, an individual who appeared to be actively using drugs and attempting to steal money from attendees was allowed to remain in the space during an event, despite multiple people being uncomfortable. There was no clear leadership response or removal. Separately, I was invited by a member to an off‑site party connected to this community. After that event, I experienced sudden disorientation and memory loss inconsistent with my alcohol intake. I went to the hospital, was evaluated for head trauma (none found), and the attending physician concluded I was drugged (e.g., roofied). What was most alarming was the response from the community afterward. Rather than concern or accountabil
Truly the most offensive experience of my life A fundamentally abusive place that shuns and ostracizes people. Deeply unhealthy where you will be valued at actually zero. Remarkably hostile. It's been many months and I'm still flabbergasted at how offensive they were. There was one time when they asked for people to share things they had been working on and I brought up a 12,000 word article I spent months on, conducted over a dozen interviews for and then I got some anonymous "conduct warning" I guess for doing what they asked. I gave a conference talk, main ballroom, asked people if they wanted free tickets, a few said yes, nobody attended my talk and one who took my free ticket said he had no intention whatsoever of doing so. Just incredibly insulting. Like a pack of middle school
Mostly a great place, with some absolutely amazing people but a few bad apples prevent it from being a safe space for neurodivergent be aware.
good place. Lot's of craft folks. Like all tech groups there is definitely the in group challenges, but all in all pretty neat and relatively open. Worth checking out the class schedule.
Tried to get into this group because i moved back to LA earlier this year. Went a few times and maybe i was just unlucky but very few people showed up. Just wanted to make a few friends and then after replying to one of the members tweets i was following they banned me. Didn't even say anything offensive and didn't give me a reason. I wonder if it's just cliquey? Shame because it seemed like a cool concept and once i get employed again out here was considering the idea of paying for membership to use their tools but maybe i'll have to drive farther to a more active one.
