Beauty Mart

I shop here occasionally. They have a nice selection of hair care products but they can get a bit pricey and I think the store is due for a renovation just to give customers more space to walk down the aisles. Other beauty supply stores allow you to use your phone number for a small discount this store does not.

My first visit to this store was last year and it was fine. I returned two times recently, and it was a different experience. First, I didn’t like the fact that I felt constantly watched. I make it a policy not to shop in places that seem to assume that I am a potential shoplifter with no cause. Second, the item I selected rang up $2 less that what it was marked, and the cashier adjusted the price up. When I questioned it, she gave me some reason about shipping fees increasing prices and that they go by the price that is marked on the item. The interesting thing is that I noticed an inconsistency in pricing for the same item. I have never known a store to charge more than the scanned price. Typically, stores charge whichever price is lowest. She was nice but this store’s approach to custom

Today, who I assume to be the owner (and older Asian gentleman) accused me of shoplifting... I was searching for a particular leave-in conditioner, so I was picking up products and reading the labels. When I finally found the one I was looking for, I turned around to head to another aisle and the owner spoke to me (from between the shelve of a different aisle). He asked me if I was going to buy the other product too. I had no clue what he was talking about and assumed that he was asking if I was going to buy another product I was looking at as well, so I responded "no." He asked me the same question again, and I told him that I didn't understand what he was asking me. So, he walked down the aisle he was in and came to stand in front of me. He said, "the one that you put in your pocket." I

3 stars for having a parking lot and descent stock. But...Wayyy over priced, found same exact product at the Shoppers next to it for -10 less..that's a hell of a difference. You would think because a particular store carries majority of a product, you'll get a better bargain. Well it's not always the case, you really gotta shoo around but then that intercedes the whole "one stop shopping".

This store has great customer service every time you come they’re extremely knowledgeable and helpful, they have a large selection of products.
