I just got really excited when I saw old school stylist 55 …. I’m from New York I was a professional hairstylist in the early to late 90’s I was a beast with the Marcel’s iron and the pump it spray specializing in short haircuts with smallest to biggest iron … I thought to myself yes finally a hair salon that don’t specialize in installing wigs saying they are hair stylist….but goosh these reviews have me a little nervous…. Idk what to do …
I just called to get a roller set on my natural hair and was told that I could not receive the service because other clients have complained about the outcome of roller set on their hair. So if someone complains about their weave are you going to refuse doing weaves? The rude women hung up the phone. They list roller set but want to force black women to get cancer causing relaxers to receive the service.
I’m a 50 year old woman who has been getting roller sets my whole life without a relaxer. This salon offers roller sets but obviously can’t perform them correctly because she won’t do a roller set without a person having a relaxer. I see a lot of complaints and I know why. This place is rude and obviously a bad stylist.
I am pleased for the most part with the feel of my hair. However, I was not expecting not to have my hair styled even though that was the service I asked for. Flat ironing is not a style per say. Furthermore, I don't appreciate having to wait 30 minutes to receive service. My appointment was for 3pm and wasn't serviced until 3:30pm and I spent more than 3 hours in the shop and only received maybe 1-1/2 hours of service. Her time management skills need great improvement. You never mentioned you were done for the day but it doesn't change the fact that I scheduled an appointment for a specific time. You told your assistant to wash me after washing another customer but she went and sat on the couch and then you told her to color the woman's hair making me wait further. I could say more but I
Now looking back almost 4 years later, it’s not what you say it’s how you say it. Now I know and understand the situation, but when you have young clients you have to handle situations a bit differently. I was 19 when I first reached out to her for a hair style and I was satisfied with the style, I came back to the salon maybe 8 months later for a trim and the way she refused was very unprofessional. Instead of saying “Maybe your godmother doesn’t want to do your hair because it’s dirty and she keeps coming up with excuses” explain “I am a licensed professional and it is mandatory for your hair to be washed before I can touch it.” The younger me wouldn’t of gave you the bad review that you deserved had you worded what you meant in a different way. Your young clients are very impressionable
