Westview Commercial District

Westview Village has a great combination of local shops, charm, convenience, and friendliness. I love the soaps at The Good Hair Shop. D Cafe has great breakfasts and this is a perfect spot to meet neighbors. On the fourth Friday of the each month the shops stay open late for Shop and Dine with the locals and Pop Up Shops are also open to introduce local artisans.

This area has a classic in-town commercial district feel, like Little Five or East Atlanta. It's in a neighborhood that has been underserved for a long time, so it doesn't have all the amenities you find on the east side of town (yet). But it's got loads of charm, and shops owned by the locals. Ms. D's southern food restaurant is a winner, as is the Good Hair Shop. At Quinn's furniture store, where Barbershop 3 was filmed, you can usually have a chat with Quinn, a preacher and participant in the civil rights revolution. The Urban Tastemaker is an awesome little hole-in-the-wall antique shop. Definitely worth checking out, and keeping an eye on. Big things are happening here. And remember: shop local. Keep your dollars where you live, and support these local businesses.

this area is in the midst of gentrification and change “west-end” now coined “Westview” in an effort to change the way the area is viewed is looking better. The street has been repaved, new businesses are opening, and growth is happening. But what is truly the cost of change. We will see.
