Carol is the consummate professional and really knows her stuff! I highly recommend her. I'd been suffering from a stiff neck after traveling, but cold exposure and snow shoveling following several storms sent my neck into a full spasm. I could barely move my head without stabbing pains along my neck and upper shoulder. Carol went to work on me with her pressure point magic, concentrating on areas which released the fascia. The next day I woke up to an 80% improvement. It was amazing! My neck was still sore, but the pain and spasms were gone. I'm sure it helped that I've been seeing Carol on a regular basis for the past year so my body knew how to accept the treatments. Make an appointment. Your body will thank you.

In recent years, I've had several shiatsu massages with Carol at Vinalhaven Shiatsu and I have to say that each of the visits was a unique and amazing experience. Carol is a skilled and talented therapist who truly understands the art of shiatsu massage. She was able to target specific areas of tension and provide relief through precise pressure and techniques. The atmosphere at Vinalhaven Shiatsu - in a beautiful shingled hut, warmed by a wood stove and tucked in the woods behind her house - is exceedingly cozy and comfortable and adds to the overall enjoyment of the massage. Carol is also very professional and super friendly, which makes me feel relaxed and at ease throughout a session. 5 big bright stars! 1) THE SPACE: Beautiful studio on an incredible property on the gorgeous island of Vinalhaven. There was even a fire in the woodstove on a crisp September morning. 2) SHIATSU: This was my first experience with Shiatsu and I LOVED it. Deeply relaxing and still feeling the benefits in my body and mind days later. 3) RELAXED: I left feeling more relaxed than I imagined possible, and had a much more restful sleep that night than typical. My body feels more “aligned and straight.” 4) CAROL: Carol is an experienced practitioner and an absolutely lovely person. She made me feel comfortable trying something new and she answered all my Shiatsu questions, and I had loads of them! 5) I can’t wait to go back!

I absolutely recommend going and seeing Carol. This was my first shiatsu treatment, hoping for something along the lines of an athletic massage. At first I was thinking the body work was way too soft, but all week long my muscles have been loose and pain free.
